Saturday, 9th May, will be the next Blue Mountains Crag Care event and, like the last one in March, we are organising a group from UNSWOC to lend a hand. It will be good for the club to contribute.
The day after, Sunday, will be a fun day of reward, beginners Climbing trip at Dam Cliffs run by Nicola, Manon and Timo. You will need to sort your own camping and cars, I would recommend Blackheath Reserve on Megalong Valley Road which has toilets and is free. If you’d just like to come up to help Saturday and head home that’s fine, but no climbing Sunday without caring 😉

The crag care work will be most likely be continuing the track work near the Shipley and Centennial Glen climbing areas and involves landscaping with rocks and dirt. So if you want to get your hands dirty come check it out! If you haven’t been to this area before it is a very pretty area with views over the Kanimbla Valley from sections of the track that we’ll be working on (it runs along a tier between two large cliff bands and under some of the Mountains’ best sport climbing). The organisers will provide tools, protective equipment and a bbq for lunch so please sign up here to confirm if you can make it – we need to let the organisers know our numbers for catering purposes.

The work day usually runs from 8am to 3.30, but if you can only come later or need to leave earlier then that’s ok too.

To come to beginners climbing you must have climbed a good few times at the ledge and St Peters.

Hope to see you there,

Rene, Pez, Nicola, Manon.
