Beginner Bouldering | Blues Point

Hey everyone, Marley and I (Oscar) will be running a beginner bouldering trip to Blues Point.

This a beginner trip so no outdoor climbing experience is required, however for safety it is expected that you have bouldered indoors at least once and know how to fall properly. On the day we’ll demonstrate good spotting and pad laying technique to teach how to boulder outdoors safely.

Blues Point is a beginner friendly bouldering crag right on the harbour with lots of V0s and 1s to get stuck into for your first time outdoors. If you want to check it out on The Crag, here’s the link.

The plan for the day is to meet at the car park at 9:30 am before heading along the really short walk around the point to the crag. We’ll try and wrap up around 3pm depending on how tired everyone is feeling. Hidden question: What is your favourite climbing gym? (That way I know you’ve climbed at least once before).

What to bring:

• Climbing shoes* + chalk (optional)
• 2L of water
• Food
• Sunscreen

* Able to be hired from the gear cupboard on Thursdays

We will be bringing the club’s bouldering mats but if you own one feel free to bring it along, the more mats the merrier
