{"id":14443,"date":"2023-02-05T22:25:26","date_gmt":"2023-02-05T11:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unswoc.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=14443"},"modified":"2025-09-29T11:55:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T01:55:47","slug":"misconduct-help-and-support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/unswoc.org\/wordpress\/safety\/misconduct-help-and-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Misconduct &#8211; Help &#038; Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you or someone around you has experienced misconduct in the context of the club:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>In an emergency:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contact Police and\/or Ambulance on <\/span><b>000<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If on or around campus, UNSW Campus Security in available 24\/7 on <\/span><b>9385 6666<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">24hr counselling and medical service at a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/parvan\/sexualassault\/Pages\/info-sexual-assault-victims.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NSW Sexual Assault Service<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (the nearest services to UNSW Kensington and Paddington campuses are at <\/span><b>Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any UNSWOC member who experiences or witnesses: sexual misconduct, gendered violence, assault, or any other behaviour perceived to be unsafe or likely to cause discomfort, may report the incident the UNSWOC Executive team.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>You may report the incident to whichever Exec member with whom you feel most comfortable. You do not need to speak to a specific Exec member (such as the President, or the Exec member that ran the event where the alleged misconduct occurred).<\/li>\n<li>You may also contact the designated Grievance Officers, however are not required to do so.<\/li>\n<li>This\u00a0<b>includes\u00a0<\/b>incidents which occur at UNSWOC events (such as Club Trips)\u00a0<b>and<\/b>\u00a0UNSWOC-related events (such as a party attended by members of the club).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>You have no obligation to speak with anyone from UNSWOC Exec<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or any UNSWOC members in general. Should you feel more comfortable, there are a number of alternative avenues available for reporting the incident, including but not limited to: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arc.unsw.edu.au\/clubs\/club-admin\/club-forms\/sexual-misconduct-resources\/gendered-violence-response-group\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arc<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edi.unsw.edu.au\/conduct-integrity\/sexual-misconduct\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNSW<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, NSW Police (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.police.nsw.gov.au\/crime\/sex_crimes\/adult_sexual_assault\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or 131 444).<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even if the alleged incident did not occur at a Club event, the scope of Arc and UNSW\u2019s reporting systems are broad, and there is always value in making a report even if it is unclear whether the incident falls within the jurisdiction of Arc or UNSW.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All incidents of gendered violence, sexual misconduct and assault can be reported to NSW Police, independent of whether the incident occurred at a Club or University event.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Exec have an obligation to report any incidents of misconduct occurring at an UNSWOC event to Arc.
