{"id":11885,"date":"2020-08-09T19:28:16","date_gmt":"2020-08-09T09:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unswoc.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=11885"},"modified":"2020-08-14T18:21:31","modified_gmt":"2020-08-14T08:21:31","slug":"incident-protocol","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/unswoc.org\/wordpress\/safety\/incident-protocol\/","title":{"rendered":"Incident Management and Safety Protocol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The following are the UNSWOC procedures following an accident:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trip leaders and leaders in training are to deal with an incident when the incident occurs by managing all participants, and calling for help via appropriate methods. No participants are to be left on their own during an incident. The trip leaders are to notify the executive of the incident.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After help has been received and the incident has been resolved, preserve ALL evidence, documentation and communication of the incident. Store this evidence, documentation and communication records in the google drive under \u201cSafety and Training\u201d -&gt; \u201cAccident Reports\u201d -&gt; \u201cEvidence\u201d. In this folder, make a new folder for the specific accident including the date and location of the accident.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advise the involved parties and participants of the pathways they have available to seek help (if required). These pathways include, but are not limited to:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS): 93855418 - students only<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNSW Psychology Clinic: 93853042<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lifeline: 131114<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond Blue: 1300224636<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNSW Health Service: 93855425<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an insurance claim regarding personal injury is needed, firstly notify ARC and then:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It incurs a $50 excess, and must be made within 30 days of the incident. The claim can be made from the link below:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fin.unsw.edu.au\/sites\/default\/files\/content\/chubbpersonalinjuryclaimform.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNSW Personal Injuries Claims Form<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check the covers and benefits, they are listed in the following document:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fin.unsw.edu.au\/sites\/default\/files\/content\/PDF\/summary_of_benefits_personal_accident_sporting_club_members.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNSW Sports Club specific benefits and limit<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More information can be found here:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fin.unsw.edu.au\/services\/insurance\/personal-accident\">Further information about insurance at UNSW<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask the involved club members to, either collectively or individually (preferred), fill out a UNSWOC Incident Report Form (<a href=\"https:\/\/unswoc.org\/wordpress\/safety\/incident-report\/\">simplified version here<\/a> or detailed form if necessary).\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trip leaders, and\/or executive are to use these incident report forms (if permitted by the involved parties) to write a safety bulletin which is to be posted on the club website for educational purposes and future reference.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A backup copy of the safety bulletin post is to be saved in the google drive under \u201cSafety and Training\u201d -&gt; \u201dAccident Reports\u201d -&gt; \u201cSafety Bulletin\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The completed incident report forms are to be stored in the google drive under the sections \u201cSafety and Training\u201d -&gt; \u201cIncident Reports\u201d-&gt; \u201cCompleted Incident Reports\u201d.
