SUMMARY:Twister and Rocky Creek- Beginner Canyoning
DESCRIPTION:Hey Guys\n\nAlex and I will be leading a beginners canyoning tr
ip to Twister Canyon and Rocky Creek canyon on the Saturday of Boree Log.
Twister feeds into Rocky Creek so they can be done in a single day trip. T
wister is a great adventure canyon with several water jumps and Rocky Cree
k is one of the most beautiful canyons in the mountains - it'll be a great
day out and an awesome intro into Blue Mountains canyoning if you haven't
been yet!\n\nThe canyons themselves are not technically difficult - no ab
seiling or any other experience is required. However\, there are a few lon
g swims in Rocky Creek\, so it is essential that you are a competent swimm
er. There are also a number of water jumps - of around 2-4m in height - in
to deep pools. Make sure you will be comfortable with this. The water is a
lso extremely cold. Wet suits are required. It's a good idea that you wear
thermals underneath your wetsuit\, and have warm woolen socks (not cotton
).\n\nREGISTRATION:\n\nYou can register yourself for the trip by using the
booking button at the bottom of this page. Only registered and approved c
lub members will be able to come on the day so make sure you register well
ahead of time! We'll be closing registration on WEDNESDAY 19th MARCH so t
hat we can get the group properly organised and make sure everyone has eve
rything they need. Please read all the info below\, and feel free to cont
act us (by posting a comment below) if you have any more questions. If you
have trouble getting any of the required items we might be able recommend
where you can go to get them.\n\nTRANSPORT:\n\nRocky Creek &amp\; Twister
Canyon is over an hour's drive from the Mt Wilson campsite. We will have
to organise carpooling from the campsite.  It will work out to be about $
5/person for fuel. Let us know if you are willing to drive as we will need
at least one more driver (Alex and I both have cars which will fit 5 peop
le each).\n\nYOU WILL REQUIRE:\n\n1. A WETSUIT AND SWIMMERS – the water
is too cold to swim without a wetsuit. You can buy cheap wetsuits second h
and from Vinnies and other second hand stores.\n\n2. ENCLOSED SHOES WITH G
OOD TRACTION such as sandshoes or volleys – No flip flops\, no sandals o
r crocs. You can buy volleys from Big W for $20. Wear warm woolen socks to
 o.\n\n3. BACKPACK and DRY BAG – that can fit a wetsuit\, lunch/snacks\,
sunscreen\, and a warm jacket. This bag will get wet. This canyon requires
several jumps and slides\, so it is NOT possible to carry items in your h
ands. You will also need a dry bag inside your backpack to keep your lunch
and other items dry. If you do not have a dry bag\, you can bring at leas
t 4 heavy duty garbage bags (the thickest possible bags you can buy).\n\n4
. HELMET – climbing or bicycle helmet\, there are a number of jumps and
slides in this canyon\, a helmet will be required to attend this trip.\n\n
 5. TORCH - preferably a head torch. We should be out well before dark - bu
t you never know and we should be prepared in case the trip takes longer t
 han expected.\n\nMORE INFORMATION:\n\nhttp://immortaloutdoors.com/articles
