DESCRIPTION:What is the TLIT Series?\nThe Trip Leader In Training Series (T
 LIT) is a program that our club runs to upskill the next generation of tri
 p leaders. Over six workshops we will teach a range of technical skills to
  bring club members one step closer to being one of our club trip leaders 
 and helping to bring the amazing the sports we do to more people.\n\nMoreo
 ver\, while some workshops are sport specific (such as the sport and trad 
 workshops) we encourage members to attend all events as they teach valuabl
 e skills you can use across disciplines.\n\nThe workshops will follow the 
 general format of:\n-General Ropework\n-Abseiling and Canyoning\n-Lead Cli
 mbing\n-Trad Climbing\n-Hauling and Rescue\n-Behind the scenes as a TL\n-R
 escue Scenario Day\n\n&nbsp\;\nWho is the TLIT Series for?\nThese workshop
 s are for people who are interested in becoming trip leaders within UNWSOC
  and fall into one or more of the following categories:\n\n 	Have been par
 ticipating in club weekend trips for a period of 6+ months\n 	Have done or
  doing a Cert III + Outdoor Ed course (TAFE)\n 	Are a current Trip Leader 
 and want a refresher and/or expand knowledge base\n 	Have participated in 
 Scouts NSW trips involving ropework and/or training events\n 	Are okay wit
 h pre-learning material before workshops\, as there is large amounts of co
 ntent to cover in one night.\n 	Have experience with rope sports from club
 s or groups\n\nWeek Two – Abseiling and Canyoning Skills\n\n 	Inspect an
 d assess the safety of anchors\, including the replacement of anchors\n- D
 iscolouration of tape\, abrasion of tape\, strength of mallions\, cracking
  and fissures surrounding bolts\, replacing tapes with wrap 3 pull 2.\n 	D
 emonstrate the rigging of double strand and releasable abseils with tape a
 nd bolt anchors\, and the suitability of each in different situations\n 	M
 MO\, Eight block\, Biner Block\n 	Understand the importance of end knots\,
  including appropriate knots and when to use them\n 	Inspect the rigging o
 f other trip leaders\, participants loading device to abseil\, attaching t
 o safety\, ABCDE and weighing abseil strand checks.\n 	Understand the impo
 rtance and demonstrate setting up of belays\n- Top\, bottom and third hand
  belays\n- Demonstrate 3 third hand techniques: Vt prussik\, klemheist\, a
 utoblock\, traditional\, and understand their applications and associated 
 hazards (putting a bottom prussik too close to device\, Vt above\, others 
 below device)\n 	Practice and inspect the loading up on three different de
 scender categories\n- Eight and modified eights\n- Grigri or similar\n- Tu
 bular devices\n 	Demonstrate trying off a variety of abseiling devices.\n 
 	Demonstrate adding friction to a variety of abseil and canyoning devices.
 \n 	Understand and practice whistle\, verbal and hand signals for communic
 ation in abseiling and canyoning\n 	Demonstrate appropriate jumping techni
 ques into water\n- Arms across chest\, knees bend\, L sits\, Depth checks\
