DESCRIPTION:What is the TLIT Series?\nThe Trip Leader In Training Series (T
 LIT) is a program that our club runs to upskill the next generation of tri
 p leaders. Over six workshops we will teach a range of technical skills to
  bring club members one step closer to being one of our club trip leaders 
 and helping to bring the amazing the sports we do to more people.\n\nMoreo
 ver\, while some workshops are sport specific (such as the sport and trad 
 workshops) we encourage members to attend all events as they teach valuabl
 e skills you can use across disciplines.\n\nThe workshops will follow the 
 general format of:\n-General Ropework\n-Abseiling and Canyoning\n-Lead Cli
 mbing\n-Trad Climbing\n-Hauling and Rescue\n-Behind the scenes as a TL\n-R
 escue Scenario Day\n\n&nbsp\;\nWho is the TLIT Series for?\nThese workshop
 s are for people who are interested in becoming trip leaders within UNWSOC
  and fall into one or more of the following categories:\n\n 	Have been par
 ticipating in club weekend trips for a period of 6+ months\n 	Have done or
  doing a Cert III + Outdoor Ed course (TAFE)\n 	Are a current Trip Leader 
 and want a refresher and/or expand knowledge base\n 	Have participated in 
 Scouts NSW trips involving ropework and/or training events\n 	Are okay wit
 h pre-learning material before workshops\, as there is large amounts of co
 ntent to cover in one night.\n 	Have experience with rope sports from club
 s or groups\n\nParticipants who sign up to all workshops will get priority
 .\nWeek One - General Ropework\n\n 	Learn to tie and inspect a variety of 
 common knots\n- Figure Eight\n- Figure Eight Rethreaded\n- Clove Hitch\n- 
 Barrel Knot\n- Stopper Knot\n- Tape/Water Knot\n- Alpine Butterfly\n- Euro
 pean Death Knot\n 	Learn and demonstrate rope coiling methods\n- Shoulder 
 coiling with alpine and girth finish\n- Coiling with a ropebag and helmet 
 biner\n 	Be able to detect and know when to retire worn ropes\n- Core shot
  pinch test\n- Sheath abrasion\, seeing core\n 	Explain the structure of 
 a rope and how to take care of it\, including best practice for storage an
 d washing\n- Kernmantle construction\n- Storing in a temp controlled\, dry
 \, dark\, and non-chemical environment (No sheds or cars in summer)\n\n- D
 on’t stand on ropes\n\n 	Static and dynamic ropes\n- Applications and di
 fferences\n 	Be able to identify common mistakes relation to participant h
 arnesses\, helmets and knots\n- Correct sizing of harness and helmet\n- Wr
 ong knots\n- Not double threading buckles on older styles of harness\n 	Ex
 plain the uses of different rope diameters and their materials\n 	Accessor
 y cords\, prussik cords\, climbing ropes\, specialty canyoning ropes\, cav
 ing ropes\n 	Nylon\, polyester\, dyneema\, technora\n 	Practice and enforc
 e general cliff safety\n- 2 body lengths from cliff edge if no safety\n- H
 elmets on around cliffs\n- Calls such as “rock”\, and “rope”\n- Cl
 ipping into safety around cliffs\n\nComments\nLet me know your experience
