SUMMARY:TLIT Series Week Four -  Trad Climbing Skills
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nWhat is the TLIT Series?\nThe Trip Leader In Training 
 Series (TLIT) is a program that our club runs to upskill the next generati
 on of trip leaders. Over six workshops we will teach a range of technical 
 skills to bring club members one step closer to being one of our club trip
  leaders and helping to bring the amazing the sports we do to more people.
 \n\nMoreover\, while some workshops are sport specific (such as the sport 
 and trad workshops) we encourage members to attend all events as they teac
 h valuable skills you can use across disciplines.\n\nThe workshops will fo
 llow the general format of:\n-General Ropework\n-Abseiling and Canyoning\n
 -Lead Climbing\n-Trad Climbing\n-Hauling and Rescue\n-Behind the scenes as
  a TL\n-Rescue Scenario Day\n\n&nbsp\;\nWho is the TLIT Series for?\nThese
  workshops are for people who are interested in becoming trip leaders with
 in UNWSOC and fall into one or more of the following categories:\n\n 	Have
  been participating in club weekend trips for a period of 6+ months\n 	Hav
 e done or doing a Cert III + Outdoor Ed course (TAFE)\n 	Are a current Tri
 p Leader and want a refresher and/or expand knowledge base\n 	Have partici
 pated in Scouts NSW trips involving ropework and/or training events\n 	Are
  okay with pre-learning material before workshops\, as there is large amou
 nts of content to cover in one night.\n 	Have experience with rope sports 
 from clubs or groups\n\nWeek Four – Trad Climbing Skills\nUnderstand roc
 k quality including types of rocks\, fissures and hollow rock\, wet sandst
 one.\n\n 	Understand and demonstrate the placing of common trad gear\n- He
 xes\, Cams\, Nuts\n- Understand their tendency to “walk” with rope dra
 g and how to mitigate this (extending slings)\n 	Understand the importance
  of inspecting gear when climbing on pre placed gear\, and its tendency to
  move with rope drag.\n 	Demonstrate the setting up of trad anchors\n-Usin
 g SERENE principles and redundancy\n- Using a BFK to equalise gear\n 	Unde
 rstand the common forces involved in “whips” and static loading\n- The
  rating of trad gear and relations to holding “whips”\n- Using appropr
 iately rated gear of the task (Not using micronuts with 1kN loading)\n 	Un
 derstand the importance of correct spacing of gear on climbs\n- Spacing of
  gear on climbs to prevent large forces on pieces\n- Effect of correct bel
 ay technique and rope drag on the loads experienced by gear (Higher rope d
 rag and hard catches = More force experienced by gear)\n\nComments\nLet me
