SUMMARY:[FULL] SUNDAY BL - JINKI RIDGE Hiking
DESCRIPTION:Feel like a more chill trip for the Sunday of Boree Log? Or may
be you think that playing with ropes is a lil overrated?! Or are you keen
to learn more about the Blue Mountains\, wildflowers/native plants and nav
igation?? Then sign up for this not-too-intense day hike. But first note t
hat:\n\nYou need to be approved for the main Boree Log event to attend the
se trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If you get rejected yo
u can then sign up for another trip\, this just makes it easier for volunt
eer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable\, t
rip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly.\n\nMargot and I (Hugh) wi
ll be leading a shortish\, beginner friendly bushwalk along Jinki Ridge\,
a track that starts on Bells Line of Road just west of Mt Wilson. Expect s
weeping views of the Grose Valley\, awesome rock formations to scramble ov
er\, a ton of wildflower colour\, and the chance to learn some outdoor ski
lls while making new club friends. I'm (overly) excited to share my enthus
iasm for wildflowers so expect to come away speaking some latin names. Sim
ilarly\, we can pause along the way to practice map reading and navigation
skills - really good things to know if you're keen on hiking literally an
 ywhere!\n\nTrack detail: https://www.alltrails.com/ar/trail/australia/new-
 south-wales/jinki-ridge-hike\n\n \n\nIt's only around 4km return\, with a
short little uphill slog on the way back. Depending on how we feel\, we c
an extend the hike further\, possibly navigating around to Wilkson Hill. B
ut we should be back at the cars\, ready to drive to Sydney\, by 1.00pm. W
hen you sign up\, let me know if you have a car/how many spots (we may nee
d to carpool to the start\, it has limited parking room) and let me know w
hat your favourite plant/flower is!\n\nWhat to bring:\n\n Plenty of water
  - at least 2L per person. It could be very hot and sections have no shade
\, and there's no water available on the track or at the parking area.\n
Sunscreen\, sunglasses and hat - essential to protect yourself from that n
asty UV.\n Snacks/lunch - we should be done by around 1.00pm but bring pl
enty of high energy snacks.\n Sturdy\, enclosed shoes - definitely not a
hike for thongs.\n Raincoat and jacket for warmth - no matter the forecas
t\, it could get very cold and windy quickly so be prepared.\n Any person
al medication.\n (Optional) Compass - you can borrow from the club gear c
upboard. Even if you don't know how to use it\, we can spend time learning
in the best possible environment!\n Your phone (charged) with the apps E
mergencyPlus\, Gaia GPS and AllTrails loaded.\n\nSend me a message on Face
book with any questions! Hope to see you at Boree Log :)\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nb
