SUMMARY:[FULL] SUNDAY BL - GREAVES CREEK Day Hike
DESCRIPTION:**UPDATE: ROUTE CHANGE**\n**Rodriguez Pass is officially closed
according to NPWS and the hike will be modified accordingly - we will nee
d to take the horse track out and back to Greaves creek (starting and fini
shing at Evan’s Lookout) or take the Pilcher point track into or out of
the Grand Canyon to start/end at Evan’s lookout/Pilchers point if a car
shuffle is possible**\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nHowdy friends\,\nFor those among us in
terested in bipedal activities\, feel free to join me and come walkabout a
round Blackheath. On this day we will be diverting from my usual route to
the pub.\nDepending on energy levels\, weather and how long it takes us to
leave the campsite\, we will moderate the route accordingly.\nPlan A is b
eautiful and a little off the beaten track - but high commitment and energ
 y. Plan B is to be tired and leave the campsite late and have a more chill
but equally stunning\, hangover-curing day. \nPLAN A:\nWe would head from
Pilcher point down to a swimming hole and back. We would take the old Pil
cher point track into the Grand Canyon and then onto Rodriguez pass to gre
aves creek for a cheeky dip. We would then head back along horse track to
the Grand Canyon trail\; thereby successfully completing a return loop hav
ing sustained 0 injuries. \nThis would be a big day: somewhere between 10-
13km with some scrambling. This will require some previous bushwalking exp
erience and high fitness. The track is occasionally steep and overgrown /
poorly maintained so you will need to be comfortable in the Australian bus
 h. Since this is a big day we will need to leave the campsite quite early
on Sunday (only very mild hangovers would be permitted). \nDepending on nu
mbers and car availability\, we will ideally organise a car shuffle betwee
n Evan’s lookout and Pilcher point. Preference will therefore be given t
o participants with cars. \nPLAN B:\nWe would either head down to greaves
creek for a swim by an alternate route from Evan’s lookout. This route f
ollows the Grand Canyon track and then the horse track. We would potential
ly return via Rodriguez pass or back the way we came. \nI will check in wi
th everyone on Sunday morning and put it to a democratic vote\, assuming t
hat timing and weather is not the deciding factor.\nEither way\, there wil
l be plenty of opportunities for a swim and we will be meandering through
the lush forest of the Grand Canyon and past a bunch of waterfalls. \nTO B
RING:\n-backpack\n-swimmers\n-towel\n-plenty of water (at least 3L)\n-hat\
n-sunscreen \n-comfortable walking clothes: if it is warm make sure to wea
r clothing that you will not overheat in\, although long pants are ideal i
f we are bushbashing \n-jacket (a rain jacket or light jacket in the case
it is windy)\n-comfortable walking shoes \n-snacks and lunch\n-any medicat
ions you require\n-hat\n***You need to be approved for the main Boree Log
event to attend these trips. Please sign up for only ONE trip per day. If
you get rejected you can then sign up for another trip\, this just makes i
t easier for volunteer trip leaders. Please be aware that as the weather i
s unpredictable\, trip leaders may need to alter trips accordingly***\n&nb
sp\;\n\n🚨 Please answer the following questions if you would like to be
accepted on this trip:\n\n1. Do you have any pre-existing injuries or med
ical conditions that might affect your ability to go hiking\, or that I sh
ould be aware of?\n\n2. What previous hiking or bushwalking experience do
you have and how would you describe your fitness level?\n\n3. Aisle or win
dow seat on a plane (and why?)\n\nif you do not answer the above questions
\, you will not be accepted onto this trip\n\n&nbsp\;\nDespite advice to t
he contrary by beloved American girl group TLC\, it is in fact encouraged
to go chasing waterfalls. So come along if you’re keen for good chats\,
beautiful scenery\, secluded swimming spots and sour patch kids (I will be
  providing these in abundance).\n&nbsp\;\nCheers\,\nEmily
