Please be aware that as the weather is unpredictable\, trip leaders may need to alter trips acc ordingly.\n\n \;\n\nPlease read the entire post and answer all questio ns before signing up.\n\n \;\n\nHi all!\n\nMali and I (Katie) are run ning a trip on Saturday of Boree Log to kayak Bendeela campsite to (hopefu lly) Tallowa dam. This is a beginner kayaking trip but you will need to be fit as there will be around 6 hours and over 10km of paddling!\n\nPartici pants need to be competent swimmers\, good at handling cold water\, and pr epared (mentally) for a long day and some sore arms. We will be in white w ater kayaks and they move slow.\n\n\n\nPhoto cred: Kangaroo Valley Kayaks\ n\n Kayaking gear provided at Boree Log event (If you have personal gear it is helpful to bring this along):\n\n Helmet\n White water kayak + spr ay skirt (and maybe a raft if we can get fixed)\n Life jacket\n Paddle\n \n\n\n\n Kayaking gear not provided:\n\n Wetsuit/thermal to keep warm (t he club has some but these are mostly to canyon)\n Emergency blanket (You must carry one on every club canyoning trip. You must buy one from the ge ar cupboard for $5 cash or most outdoor stores)\n Dry bags that can fit A LL your gear inside and can fit inside the kayak (the club only has a coup le of drybags so we can't guarantee any for you\n\n\n\n\n Clothing:\n\n Hat\, sunglasses &\; sunscreen\n Wool socks\n Thermals to wear under your life jacket\n A windbreaker for if it gets cold\n NO COTTON!\n\n\n\ n\n Food:\n\n 1.5L of water in bottles.\n Substantial lunch (pack it in a waterproof container\, and make sure it’s vaguely crush-proof)\n Sna cks (chocolate or something nice to share!)\n\n\n Miscellaneous:\n\n Any personal medicine (asthma puffer\, Epipen etc)\n A pair of thongs/flipfl ops (jandals if you're a kiwi like me) to leave in the car\n Phone or cam era for photos (optional\, and only if you’re prepared for it to get wet if your drybag leaks!
