SUMMARY:Kayak Pool Rolling Session
DESCRIPTION:G'day Boaters and Boaters to be\,\n\nBeginners welcome\, some k
ayaking experience preferred but not required.\n\nI have organised with th
e UNSW pool to have some kayak training sessions. This will be a multi-clu
b collaboration\, and so signups are being done on a google spreadsheet: h
 ttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1mNa_fgxMpq39W8kGxgALKf3oQEJekQ3H0sw
G6Qq7oTA/edit?usp=sharing\n\nPlease Note: Signups to the spreadsheet will
open 2 weeks in advance\n\nYou still have to sign up on the website to be
covered by insurance Please state in the comment that you have signed up
on the google spreadsheet AND paid to the details in the google spreadshee
 t\n\nWhen: Wednesday 13 August 7:15pm (Check spreadsheet for date)\n\nWhen
to arrive: Please arrive 30 minutes early for setup\n\nWhere: UNSW Fitnes
 s and Aquatic Centre https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qzs7x9SEB88vB57u9\n\nPrice: $
10 for UNSWOC members and  $15 for everyone else\n\nWhat to bring:\nYour
club may be able to provide you with some/all of these\, please discuss wi
th someone in your club\n\n Boat: please bring the smallest boat you have
i.e. a play boat if possible\n\n You must thoroughly wash your boat insi
de and out before coming to the pool\n\n\n Paddle\n Helmet: knocking you
 r head is a real risk\, helmets are a must\n Spray deck\n Life jacket/PF
 D\n Swimmers\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nWhat to expect:\n\nThe pool session is a chanc
e for paddlers in the community (new and old alike) to learn and practice
rolling from other more experienced paddlers. There won’t be 1 single in
structor standing in front teaching everyone. Instead\, it will more so be
a matter of approaching a more experienced paddler and asking for some gu
idance and lessons for learning what you want to learn. As such\, if you h
ave a friend who is experienced\, it is worth asking them to come along (f
or free) to be able to help teach you. Learning to roll is a fairly 1 on 1
task\, and so an experienced paddler won’t necessarily be able to dedic
ate their entire 2 hours to just you.We will have 3 lanes to use for learn
ing and practicing rolling in the shallow end\, but only so many boats can
actually fit into the shallow end. As such\, please expect that there wil
l be times where you aren’t able to be in the shallow end where a helper
can stand and guide you. Instead\, you can spend time practicing other te
 chniques such as hip flicks\, T rescues\, or paddle techniques.\n\n&nbsp\;
\n\nFAQs\n\nQ. I am a skilled paddler and want to help teach\, do I need t
o pay?\n\nA. No\, it is FREE for helpers/rolling instructors. If you would
like to come along and help teach\, you can come for free. Please put you
r name at the bottom of the spreadsheet in the relevant section for helper
s.\n\nQ. I can no longer attend\, what should I do?\n\nA. You can give you
r ticket to a friend and have them pay you back. If you don’t have a fri
end who wants to go\, please contact Adam Riesel (via mobile or facebook)
and a refund can be organised IF the space can be filled from the waitlist
.\n\nQ. I have an experienced friend who can teach me to roll\, can they c
ome?\n\nA. Yes definitely\, your experienced friends are absolutely allowe
d to come FOR FREE to help teach you (and anyone else they want to teach).
Please put their details at the bottom of the signups excel sheet\n\nQ. I
don’t have a boat or any gear\, can I borrow from a club?\n\nA. If you
are a club member and your club has boats\, please discuss with your club
and please opt for the smallest boat style your cub has. If your club does
n’t have boats\, or you aren’t part of a club\, please contact Adam Ri
esel (mobile or facebook) and we can discuss options
