Zee and I will be running a Caving Ropes skills focu sed workshop this Sunday Afternoon (exact time TBD) in the Berowra Nationa l Parks area.\n\nThis workshop is aimed at folks who have some previous ex perience with abseiling &\; prusiking / ascending (even if its with fig ure 8s\, microtraxions\, prusiks!) and are looking to learn some more adva nced SRT vertical rope skills\, although anyone is welcome to sign up! The se advanced SRT skills are commonly applied on more technical vertical cav es\, and will open a whole new range of possibilities! (Especially if you join a dedicated\, ASF affiliated caving club like SUSS!)   They can als o be handy vertical rope skills to have\, even if you're not a caver!\n\nW e're hoping to cover the following topics\, depending on how time goes:\n\ n General / common caving SRT equipment setup\n Descending / Abseiling u sing Petzl Stops\, &\; Rap Racks\n Ascending using mechanical ascender s\n Switching from Ascending to Descending and vice versa\n Passing Rebe lays &\; Redirects (going up and down)\n Passing knots (going up and d own)\n Horizontal Traverses\n Going up &\; down ladders (and belaying on ladders)\n Pendulums (This is probably a bit optimistic!)\n\nYou will need the following gear:\n\n[caption id="" align="alignright" width="287" ] SRT ascending/descending kit (descender omitted for clarity) Credit: WAS G[/caption]\n\n 1 x Cows tails (or daisy chains / adjustable lanyards etc ). Essentially\, we're looking to have 2 safeties that are of an adjustabl e length. Alternatively\, you can also bring a length of DYNAMIC rope (som ething that you'd still take a whip on!) and we can make the cowstail.\n 1 x Hand Ascender\n 1 x Chest Ascender\n 1 x Chest Harness (Length of We bbing or accessory cord is OK as well. Not safety gear)\n 1 x Cave Harnes s (Alternative: Canyon harness\, ideally WITHOUT the butt protector)\n 1 x Helmet\n 1 x Petzl Stop Descender (or other caving descender)\n 1 x Fo ot loop (A length of accessory cord\, sling\, static rope is OK as well. N ot safety gear).\n At least 6 locking biners\n Please bring other gear t hat you might normally carry around (eg microtraxions\, tiblocs\, prussiks )\n\nOther items:\n\n Hat\n Lunch\n Water\n Hiking boots / sneakers et c\n Backpack that can fit everything\n Weather appropriate clothes\n No tebook &\; Notepad\n Flashlight / Headlight - Daylight savings is over !\n Sunscreen / Insect repellent?\n\nItems in BLUE can be borrowed from t he gear cupboard. \n\nPlease let me know in the comments:\n\n What gear do you already have\, and what gear do you need\n Previous experience / r ope skills (none is okay as well)\n What you're hoping to learn from this workshop\n Do you have a car &\; how many spaces?
