SUMMARY:[Intermediate/Advanced] Day Hike - Berowra Trig
DESCRIPTION:Image Credit: Oliver D\n\nPlease note: This is an Expression o
f Interest and as always\, the trip may need to be postponed at short not
ice due to weather issues or other circumstances \n\n\n\nRead the trip re
port here!\n\n\n\nTrigonometrical stations\, commonly referred to as trigs
\, are fixed survey points placed at the highest peak of a mountain or hil
l.\n\nTrig bagging is the challenge of hiking to\, and checking off trig s
tations\, whatever be the terrain to get there.\n\nI personally have not e
ngaged in this activity but I am National-Park-bagging and I haven't been
to Popran National Park yet. Popran NP has one singular trig station\, whi
ch is on a fire trail. This is cheating.\n\nTherefore we're instead going
to the next closest one - TS877 Berowra.\n\nSee track information here: ht
 tps://hikingtheworld.blog/trig-stations/berowra-trig/\n\nIf group morale i
s high\, we can even attempt to visit Cascade Gully Dam and the HMAS Parra
matta Shipwreck. Those details here.\n\n\n\nThis is a 12km off-track walk
with sections of bush bashing. Map here. Saturday 18th April.\n\nYou do no
t need too much off-track experience\, provided you have: plenty of normal
hiking experience in steep terrain\, a high stamina and fitness and the m
ental game to be whacked in the face by leaves for 4 hours.\n\nYOU WILL NE
ED:\n\n Head-torch – Very important. If we get stuck in the dark you w
 ill have a horrible time.\n Water – Bring AT LEAST 2L of water.\n $10
for your driver – #FuelPrices\n Emergency Blanket – buy at outdoor s
tores or the gear cupboard\n Lunch – You must provide your own lunch.\n
Snacks – We’ll be doing a lot of exercise\, so make sure you bring
lots of snacks to keep your energy levels up! Bring things like nuts\, fru
 it\, dried fruit\, lollies\, biscuits\, chocolate\, muesli bars\, etc.\n
Bush bashing clothes – rain jacket\, long pants\, gloves\, long sleev
 e shirt\, sunglasses.\n Personal First Aid Kit – optional\n\n&nbsp\;\n\
nIn your comments\, please tell me:\n\n Your hiking experience. List rele
 vant hikes you've done\, and include off-track experience\, if any.\n Wha
t river the Berowra Trig overlooks.\n\nAs always\, email me for questions
 at webadmin@unswoc.org :)
