SUMMARY:[Trip Full] Dams Cliffs\, Blue Mountains - Beginner friendly Rock C
 limbing trip
DESCRIPTION:\nHello\, Myself (Marcus Gatt) and Linna\, are running a rock c
limbing trip to Dams Cliffs in the Blue Mountains on Sunday 15th March. Th
is is a great area for a first outdoor climbing trip as there is an assort
ment of grades for people to try\, as well as an area for us to swim once
we are too tired to continue climbing. We will arrive at the crag at 9am\,
and we will leave from there at 4pm. We will carpool from Sydney.\n\n\n\n
I've labelled this as a 'Beginner friendly ' trip\, this means that you ha
ve at least done a few sessions of indoor top-rope climbing prior to joini
ng this trip. This is so that the trip leaders can be confident in your ab
ility to belay\, and so that you at least have a baseline of strength and
technique to move on the wall.\n\n\n\nThe trip leaders on this trip will s
et up rock climbs so that they can be completed in top-rope\, trip-leaders
will not be focusing on teaching lead climbing.\n\n\n\nRequired equipment
Prior to commencing the trip\, you need to ensure that you have the requir
ed climbing equipment. If you do not own an item on this list\, it must be
borrowed from the UNSWOC Gear Cupboard on a Thursday evening (5th or 12th
) prior to the event.- Harness- Rock Climbing Helmet- Rock Climbing Shoes-
Belay device and locking carabiner- Chalk bag (Optional\, but nice to hav
e)Extra things that are important to bring: - Enclosed shoes for the walk
 in &amp\; belaying.- Swimsuit\, towel\, sunscreen.- Lunch\, 3L of water\,
exquisite snacks to share.- A jacket (it can get cold in the mountains).-
medicines if you need them (asthma puffer\, etc)To be accepted onto the tr
ip In the comments\, let us know:- how long you have been doing indoor roc
k climbing for\,- whether you have a car\, how many spaces you have\, wher
e would you drive from.- your Facebook name\, or phone number\, so that we
can organise a group chat.\n\n\n\nSafetyRock climbing is an inherently da
ngerous sport with potential for serious injury. Compared to indoor climbi
ng\, there exists additional and occasionally unpredictable dangers. Trip
leaders will put all reasonable controls and procedures in place to preven
t an incident\, however it is worth noting that risk is not entirely elimi
nable.\n\n\n\nIf you have any questions feel free to contact myself or Lin
na.\n\n\n\nPictures for hype:\n\n\n\n~~~Please note\, the trip is now full
