SUMMARY:Boree Log - Sunday Beginner Kayaking
DESCRIPTION:Same deal as Saturday\, might make the river section slightly s
horter to give us more time to get home in the afternoon. If you haven't b
een to a pool session you may join BUT you will need to do basic safety sk
ills in the river on Saturday evening. Let me know if you are one of these
people.\n\nNote: You must be attending the Boree Log event to attend th
is trip.\nNote: You must have attended a pool session to attend this trip
or completed basic skills on Saturday afternoon.\n\nThe Gist:\nThis is a B
EGINNER TRIP! Saturday evening we organise ourselves by fitting kayaks to
individuals\, assigning gear\, hiring gear\, and putting the kayaks on ro
ofs/in trailers. Sunday morning we get ourselves ready and dressed in riv
er clothes\, leave our dry gear in our tents and drive up to the put in\,
get in the water\, paddle our merry way down the beautiful and fun Barring
ton River\, and then we exit the river at the campsite (how convenient!).\
n\nThe List:\nYou will personally need:\n- Warmth consisting of a wetsuit
or drytop . Can wear thermals underneath. Two layers of thermals and a ve
ry good spray jacket may suffice but if you capsize it's gonna be mighty c
old. Probably no club wetsuits available.\n- Shoes\, preferably slim fitti
ng (there isn't much room in a kayak)\, grippy\, and you're happy to get w
et. Like canyoning\, volleys are tops.\n- Dry bag\, optional depending on
how wet you like your lunch. Can be substituted with lots of plastic bags.
\n- Lunch. We might have a quick lunch halfway down or maybe leave it till
the end so we can get back to Sydney sooner.\n- Water Bottle. Really shou
ld have some sort of ring or strap for attaching so that it doesn't fall o
ut of your boat.\nEquipment. If you have any of the following or are able
to borrow some please do\; the club does not have enough. We will be rent
ing equipment as needed however anything you can bring will be appreciated
.\n- Whitewater Helmet.\n- PFD (Personal Flotation Device\, AKA Lifejacket
).\n- Spray Deck.\n- Paddle\n- Kayak\n\n- Do NOT wear cotton (except undie
s). Punishable by punch.\n- Do not bring keys/phones/wallets\, we're in th
e bush\, they're next to useless and easily lost\n\nI will probably be ope
ning up the trip to more people once we confirm equipment numbers.\n\nIt w
ould be a good idea to make sure that you have a lift back to Sydney\, as
the climbers and Canyoners will not be coming back to the campsite\, so if
your driver is doing one of those sports then you should try to swap with
someone else.\n\nAny questions feel free to contact me.\nCheers\, Niels -
