SUMMARY:Beginner's Hiking & Camping Trip - Friday night & Saturday
DESCRIPTION:Hello fellow outdoor enthusiasts\,\n\nare you looking for 2 min
ute abs? Well you've come to the wrong place because this is an overnight
hiking/camping trip with UNSWOC.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\nPlan:\nMeet on Friday nig
ht after work/uni.\n\nDrive up together to Watagans National Park (2 hours
North). [You could come up on Saturday morning super early independently
but you will need a car]\n\nCamp at Watagans HQ\n\nHike to Heatons Gap on
this trail. We will do a car shuffle to drive back to camp. http://www.wil
 dwalks.com/bushwalking-and-hiking-in-nsw/watagans/watagan-headquarters-to-
heaton-lookout.html\n\nChill out and general explore of the local area bef
ore we drive back to Sydney together\, stopping for dinner on the way.\nWh
at to bring:\n\n Water! - Apparently the water tank has been vandalised s
o we must each bring at least 4-5L of water (depending on if you need some
for cooking). You'll need to be able to carry 2L on the hike.\n Sunscree
n! - Australian sun is brutal. Even if overcast you can easily get sunburn
ed.\n Hat - Should be wide brimmed or a bucket hat to protect your ears a
nd neck.\n Food – Bring something to eat on Friday night (we may arrive
late so sandwich would be best). You will need to prepare food for breakf
ast and lunch (bring a micro stove if you want hot food\, think quick and
 easy meals like oats\, cereal\, muesli\, sandwiches\, couscous packets). B
e aware of garbage as well. Avoid canned food as its heavy and bulky. Brin
g some lightweight snacks for the hike like trail mix\, chocolate\, muesli
bars.\n Clothes – Be logical. Wear comfortable shoes like joggers or h
iking shoes. They will get dirty or wet. Bring light clothes because you
’ll get hot while you hike (e.g. long lightweight pants\, breathable shi
rt)\, BUT you MUST BRING a rainjacket and warm clothes for temperatures cl
ose to 0 degrees at night.\n Equipment - (most stuff can be borrowed fro
m UNSWOC or you can share) You will need tent\, sleeping mat\, sleeping ba
g\, backpack for hiking (20-40L)\, micro stove\, small pots\, water bottle
 s. Optional: hiking poles\, gaiters\, slackline (bring if you own one!)\,
compass\, GPS.\n Opal Card - Probably need one to get around\n Money? -
for dinner on Saturday (can bring your own food if you prefer not to spend
)\, for fuel costs of drivers.\n GOOD VIBES and tunes for the drive!\n\nM
essage me Tad Karapetian on fb if you have questions. Please include wheth
er you are able to drive and if you have a car available in your booking.
